4th Of July! - WinStar

Hi, friends! Can you believe it’s already July? I started writing to you all back in January, but it feels like I wrote my first blog just yesterday. Okay, maybe a little longer than that, but you catch my drift! I hope you all have had a wonderful summer so far. The 4th of July just passed and we celebrated in style here at WinStar. In case you missed all the action, I’m here to recap it for you!

We started the holiday off early with the Eli Young Band on July 3rd. This band captured the hearts of thousands, not only because of their awesome tunes, but because they were so relatable to the crowd. The lead singer, Mike Eli, would occasionally stop between songs to chat with his fans. He told us about his brother serving in the Marines and how thankful he was for everyone who has served and is still serving in the military. The crowd got into the patriotic spirit and at one point started chanting “USA!”. The most adorable moment of the night goes to Mike Eli’s two year old daughter who made an appearance on the stage. She asked us if we liked her shoes, said hi to a band member and then waved goodbye (cue collective aw)! This band started the weekend off on a perfect note, literally and figuratively!

Now, on to Independence Day! The day was bustling with people playing games, catching some sun at the pool and dining in our fine restaurants. As night came, people filed outside to watch our fireworks show. I must say, the fireworks were fantastic! They were big, bold and lit up the Oklahoma sky. It was truly incredible. After that was complete, our night club Mist was hosting a red, white and blue bash! DJ Wyatt made his debut and kept people on the dance floor all night long. It was a celebration full of patriotism, dancing and an all-out great time

The Independence Day fun continued on Saturday with Ringo Starr and His All Starr Band. The former Beatles member performed in front of a very excited sold out crowd. Ringo Starr spent most of the night behind the drums, while his All Starr Band provided the vocals. Don’t worry, when the classic songs such as “Yellow Submarine” and “With a Little Help from My Friends” were busted out, Ringo took the lead in vocals. It was a nostalgic concert and they certainly rocked it.

This was definitely a weekend to remember and I am very happy that I was able to be a part of it. If you spent the weekend with us and have pictures to share, I would love to see them! Stay tuned until next time, folks!
